Day One – ASSE Professional Development Conference – Atlanta, Georgia

As the Business Development Manager for NeoSystems Inc., a Calgary-based Health and Safety ISV company, shows like the ASSE Professional Development Conference are criticalto understanding the evolving HSE space. It’s exciting to speak to likeminded individuals and companies like my own that represent the tide of change in the once stagnant moving industry and see where the industry is moving.
Walking the show floor this year was overwhelming to say the least. With over 50 companies offering their own take on safety solutions, the health and safety space has grown considerably. While I have yet to come across a company that offers the same mobile first and Microsoft integrated solution like my company’s QHSE solution iTrak, it spoke volumes about the growing demand by organizations to keep their workers safe, increase organizational efficiency and quality, and improve their employee satisfaction.
While attending one of the conference’s many seminars on Occupational Health & Safety, a startlingly fact was presented, “Since 2009, there has been a tsunami of new regulations introduced globally. 44% of these regulations have been implemented in North America”, and in parallel to this fact is that organizations are struggling to meet these stricter laws.
The first day of ASSE has been a real eye opener to the technology, innovation, and forward thinking seen on tap. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s report on the show.
